Usman
A Glimpse Into Their World
Background
Usman is in grade 5 and lives in a family of six. He has two sisters and one brother. Among all the children at home, he is the only one who goes to school. His father works as a textile craftsman in a factory, spending long hours creating fabrics and earning whatever little he can. His mother works as a cleaning lady in someone’s house. Because of the nature of her job, she can only visit home once a week. Life is not easy for the family, and it is difficult to make ends meet with the limited wages both parents receive.
Before joining Minor Care, Usman used to study at Prime School. He liked the school but had to leave because the fee and other expenses became too high. His family simply could not afford to keep him there. One day, they heard about Minor Care and learned that it was a place where education and facilities were completely free. His family went to visit, hoping it would be a good opportunity for him. When they found out that everything was provided without any cost, they enrolled him without hesitation. This gave his parents a sense of relief and gave Usman a chance to continue his studies.
Usman is disciplined and follows a tough routine for someone his age. After school, he goes home, eats lunch and changes his clothes. Then he returns to Minor Care academy where he studies and revises his lessons. After the academy, he works at a local shop and earns a daily wage of fifty rupees. Even though it is a small amount, it helps his family. He works with pride because he wants to support his parents and reduce the burden they carry.
Usman has a few simple things he loves. His favourite color is black. He enjoys eating carrots and likes the crunch and taste of them. His favourite sport is cycle racing, and he dreams of one day owning a good bicycle so he can race properly.
Despite all the challenges around him, Usman remains determined. He studies with full focus because he wants to build a future where his parents no longer have to work so hard. He hopes to become a police officer someday so he can serve and protect his country. He wants to be someone strong, responsible and helpful. Usman believes that with hard work and courage, he can achieve everything he dreams of and give his family the life they deserve.
