A Glimpse Into Their World

Background
Meerub is in grade four and the youngest of three siblings. She has two older brothers who always look out for her. Her father works as a cleaner at a hospital and comes home tired, but he always smiles at his children. Her mother stays at home and takes care of the household. Meerub likes helping her mother with chores. She sweeps, arranges things, and tidies the house, proud that she can make it look clean and welcoming.

Even though she is small, Meerub manages her studies and her work at home. She likes helping her relatives when they visit, carrying packages, and doing small tasks. Every time someone thanks her, she feels happy: she likes being useful and helping others. Cleanliness is very important to Meerub. She notices dust, misplaced shoes, and spills, and she does not leave them until they are done. Her brothers sometimes laugh at her careful ways, but she only smiles and says, “A clean space makes everyone feel good.” Helping and respecting her family is important to her.

Meerub loves chocolates. When she gets one, her eyes light up, and she eats it slowly with a big smile. Chocolates feel like a small reward for all the work she does and for being helpful.

She likes watching her father return from work and her brothers playing and laughing. She joins in when she can, and she always tries to be polite and respectful toward them. She knows that her little actions make her home a better place.
